One of the most convenient ways to boost our collagen levels is to take a collagen supplement, but with so many on the market today offering Type I, Type II, and even Type III collagen, which one is the right one for you and what you are trying to target?

Type I collagen is primarily sourced from fish, and is a by-product of the fishing industry. This means that fish are NOT farmed specifically for their collagen! Each DermaShotz sachet contains 11,000mg of the world’s leading, ethically sourced, Hydrolysed Marine Collagen. Type I collagen is also present (in smaller quantities) in some types of Porcine (pig) Collagen and Bovine (cattle) Collagen. However, Marine Collagen is absorbed up to 1.5 times more efficiently into the body, meaning it has superior bioavailability over bovine or porcine collagen. Because of its low molecular weight, it is absorbed far more easily and enters the bloodstream more rapidly.

Type I collagen makes up around 75-90% of the collagen found in your skin, hair, nails, organs, bone and ligaments. For skin, hair and nails, Type I collagen is widely considered to be the optimum type of collagen supplement to take, and there is now an abundance of research material available showing that when Type I collagen levels in the body are increased via oral supplement, there are visible improvements in the appearance of the skin, when taken over an extended period of time.

Supplements containing Type II collagen contain collagen sourced from the cartilage of chicken and cattle. Type II collagen makes up the fluids and function of the cartilage and joints. The primary purpose for choosing a supplement containing Type II collagen is for the health of the joints and to treat conditions such as Arthritis. Type II collagen constitutes approximately 10% of the total collagen found in the body, and around 50% of the protein found in our cartilage.

Type III collagen is found with Type I collagen in Porcine Collagen and Bovine Collagen. Type III collagen is the second most abundant collagen found in the body’s tissue and also in bone, cartilage, the teeth, tendons and other connective tissues.

Alongside collagen, another ‘super’ ingredient that is at the top of the tree right now in the world of skin care is HYALURONIC ACID. Nearly every moisturiser, serum and supplement advertised on our TV screens, magazines and social media streams seem to have Hyaluronic Acid added. But why?

There is a whopping 120mg of this SUPERSTAR in each DermaShotz sachet, so we’re going to take a little look at Hyaluronic Acid, what it is and why it’s an amazing ingredient for your skin!

Hyaluronic Acid is a molecule that occurs naturally within our body. It is used in our joints, connective tissues and skin, and can hold up to 1000 (yes, ONE THOUSAND!) times its own weight in water! It also has this really cool ability to be able to control the moisture level within our cells (so that it they don’t hold on to too much). It can even help to draw moisture from the air, helping to keep your skin moist.

However, just like with most things (unfortunately), our ability to produce our own Hyaluronic Acid declines as we age. Hence the reason Hyaluronic Acid has become one of the wonder ingredients for skin hydrating and anti-ageing products and supplements. In fact, many Dermatologists claim that Hyaluronic Acid is essential in maintaining skin hydration.

When skin is hydrated it’s appearance is soft, plump and ‘dewy’, and it can help wrinkles and lines (even deep set ones) appear reduced and smoother. It also has anti-oxidant properties which can help to protect our skin from external factors such as pollution and the sun’s damaging rays.

So, how does Hyaluronic Acid work WITH Collagen to benefit your skin?

Hyaluronic Acid actually ACCELERATES your body’s ability to both produce and synthesise (or use) collagen. So, when you take a supplement containing both Hyaluronic Acid and collagen you increase the efficacy of both. The DREAM TEAM!

We’re dreaming of warm evenings and sunshine on our skin (with an SPF of course!) #summer #spf #feelgood #skincare #summervibes #goodbyewinter ...

Who else is loving the snow right now!? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Winter is an amazing time of the year, especially if you’re a snow lover!

But cold weather is harsh on our skin. Colder temperatures can draw moisture away from the skin leaving it dry and cracked, especially if you have a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis.

This is due to a number of factors, but most prevalent are low outdoor temperatures, low humidity and indoor heating being notched up!

There are a few ways that we can give our skin a little extra love during the colder months...

🧚🏼‍♂️ Drink plenty of water! We tend to drink less water than in the warmer months so this can lead to dehydration. Try aiming for 8 glasses every day!

🧚🏼‍♂️ Avoid using skin products and soaps that will dry your skin out further.

🧚🏼‍♂️ Choose a winter moisturiser for your skin. The one you use during the summer months may not cut it when it’s bitterly cold outside. If your skin is severely dry, try using an emollient moisturiser that locks moisture in, followed by a standard moisturiser on top.

🧚🏼‍♂️ Supplement! Taking DermaShotz daily for at least 8 weeks will boost your skins hydration levels with its formulation of Hydrolysed Marine Collagen Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid!

Posted @withregram • @_boss_mummy_ So! I’ve been getting in a bit of a funk recently about my skin (my friends have had enough of me moaning about it @alisaroberts_ and @chezchez_life for sure!!) but I was all cocky and “my skins great..” “oh I never take my make up off..” and well at the age of 35 it’s come to bite me in the bottom! I have wrinkles... now... wrinkles I don’t mind, but I have this one “line..” on my face which is only one one side, and it’s basically due to sleeping on the same side of my face pretty much my whole life! Damn you pillow! Alas.. it won’t go away, I see it in every picture.. la la la! Insecurity and all that.. I hate it! Turns out there are some things I can do to help reduce it... that being having some collagen! I was literally over the moon when @dermashotz asked me if I would like to try some, and well, the line jumped at the chance!! I have two consultations booked in as well to go and see some professionals to get some advise on how they might be able to even out my face 💉🙈... however... I’m giving these a good shot (see what I did there) first! Along with some collagen face creams I got for Xmas! Wrinkles I can do... wonky wrinkles... not quite yet ta! (Hence why I now have a full on face cleansing routine...!!) I’ll keep you updated on how I get on! Thank you @dermashotz for the gift! ‘Twas very gratefully received!! Tastes like sherbet orange 🍊 for those wanting to know #gift #prproduct #ad
